Padstow Seafood School offers 1, 2 and 4 day cookery courses, residential and non-residential, covering everything from Italian, French and Thai fish cookery, to classic seafood dishes, summer cooking, friends for dinner and even children’s fish cookery. There are also courses dedicated to recipes from Rick Stein’s BBC TV series’ Mediterranean Escapes, French Odyssey and Far Eastern Odyssey. ‘I’ve wanted to make a series in Spain for a long time. I love Spanish food, I’ve been going there since I was a young boy – but until recently I don’t think people really took the food seriously. Thanks to a handful of really dedicated Spanish chefs and a growing enthusiasm for its rugged flavours, that has all begun to change. To me the underlying point of journeying to Spain would be to discover the ‘duende’ in the cooking. By that I mean a sense of soul, of authenticity. The word is normally used in flamenco but I think it could be equally applied to the art of Spanish cooking because to my mind, in really good food, there is a communication between the cook and diner that amounts to art.’ Rick Stein

Entry is easy. All you have to do is fill in your details below and press ‘enter competition’. No purchase necessary. Closing date is 30.06.12. If you’re a winner, we’ll contact you within a week of the closing date.

1. No purchase necessary (but is advised if you want to taste some of Britain’s best oatcakes).
2. This competition is free to enter.
3. Open to UK residents only.
4. One entry per person only. Automated entries, bulk entries or third party entries will be disqualified.
5. The employees and employees’ families of The Seafood Restaurant Ltd and Furniss (Proper Cornish) Ltd and their agencies or anyone directly involved in this competition are not eligible to enter, nor eligible to win a prize.
6. Closing date: 30.06.2012.
7. There is no cash alternative to any of these prizes.
8. The 2-day residential cookery course prize at Padstow Seafood School includes 2 nights accommodation, with meals, selected wine and tuition for one person. The prize must be taken by 31st December 2012. Prize does not include spending money or the cost of travel to Padstow. If the winner wishes to bring a partner or friend there is a £150 dining supplement. Subject to availability at the time of booking.
9. Winners will be drawn at random and notified within 7 days of the closing date. In the event that the winner has not responded within 14 days of notification then the promoters reserve the right to reallocate the prizes to reserve winners. A list of winners’ names will be posted on this site after this date.
10. The Seafood Restaurant Ltd and Furniss reserve the right to offer alternative prizes of equivalent value if, due to circumstances beyond their reasonable control, the stated prizes are no longer available.
11. The Judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered in to.
12. The competition will run from October 12th, 2011 until June 30th, 2012.
13. Furniss (Proper Cornish) Ltd & The Seafood Restaurant Ltd and the websites thereof are compliant with the data protection act. We will not pass on your details to any third party. All data gathered by this competition will be used to improve Furniss (Proper Cornish) Ltd’s & The Seafood Restaurant Ltd’s services to you.
